Boomer's a real poser. Wave a camera in his face, even if it's just the iPhone, and he'll make eye contact, prrrt at you happily, and sit up waiting for the ch-ck noise. And do it again, and again, and again, until he eventually gets bored, by which time even I, as a truly crappy photographer, am more-or-less certain to have acquired one non-crappy photo.

Tigra, however, is a nosey little wenchkitten. Camera? What's that thing you're pointing in my face? Can I sniff it? I have endless pictures of the end of her nose. Blurry shots of cat markings, kitten in mid-leap, kitten halfway to sitting up to look at me.. she's a really affectionate nosey little brat, which is wonderful most of the time but not if I actually want her to sit STILL! Mostly, I only get halfway passable poses when she's asleep. That does let me get comparative how-she's-grown shots, though.

To the left, we have Tigra about three months ago. And to the right, Tigra a week ago. She really is a pretty girl, but not camera-friendly at all.

They're still growing practically visibly. Boo, I suspect, gets growing pains, because he'll get really CRANKY for a week or so, especially if you pick him up for a cuddle; then you'll suddenly realise "... cat, weren't you an inch shorter a week ago? And about half a kilo lighter?"

The size difference is probably best illustrated. I took this this morning; it was pouring with rain, and the kittens decided that snuggling on the couch with me was The Way To Go.

He's already the weight of a fully grown cat (just shy of 5kgs), but visibly hasn't done growing. He's still got the long lean lines of a young boy, and only some of the signs of the huge hulk of catmuscle I think he'll develop into. God only knows when he'll stop.

Tigra's still small and sweet. And, in the last month or so, amazingly cuddly. She's learned a new trick, in fact. For some months, if she's wanted headscritches, she'll lean back on her haunches and bat at your hand with a paw, dragging it gently to her face if she can. She's extended her repertoire; now, if she wants picked up, she'll lean back on her haunches, waggle both front arms at you, and look cute. It's irresistably sweet.

For that matter, they both are.

I'm enjoying spring. For one, it means I get to actually see sunshine outside of my working day, which is really really difficult to over rate as a Good Thing. Admittedly, the next few weeks at work are going to suck (quite a few night shifts, no weekends off until November, for example), but at least there is sun some of the time!

For another, I finally pulled my head out of my backside, went to my GP, and got a change of babyproofing. I was starting to run into the depressive side effects that some people get on Depo-provera, and I have been there and done that once before, and had no desire to go there again. And my GP seemed so pleased that I was being proactive about my mental health, she happily gave me what I asked for .

So, after six weeks, I am feeling much, much better mentally. Time will tell as to whether the effects are obvious to other people - my beloved has already noted that I'm not flying off the handle quite so rapidly - so I'm calling that a win.

Plus, y'know. Hooray, sunshine!
